Drum roll please… Announcing Media Savvy Mamas!

Around the world, schools, parents, and communities are celebrating #SaferInternetDay. And in my little neck of the woods, I’ve been wondering how I can best contribute to the cause.

“This year’s theme, ‘Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you,’ is a call to action for every stakeholder to play their part in creating a better internet for everyone, in particular the youngest users out there. More than that, it is an invitation for everyone to join in and engage with others in a respectful way in order to ensure a better digital experience” (SaferInternetDay.org).

For months, I’ve been contemplating this space I’ve created: MamaCrossroads.

I want to do a lot of things–in real life and online.

I want to help other parents. I want to speak the truth. I want to create a place where we can learn together and help our families to be digitally safe. I want to be an ambassador for all the amazing brands that are putting together resources for digital safety!

Over time, MamaCrossroads has become a mish-mash (truly, a crossroads). It has become a lot about me and my life. And that’s okay. But I want to create a space about WE.

I want a space to focus like a laser beam on digital safety and helping parents–a place where we can speak the truth, learn together, help our families, and share resources.

So, I’m unveiling my new project…

MediaSavvyMamas.com is a work in progress. The goal is to create a community of moms who care about digital safety. We need that! We need each other!

We are the first generation of parents to raise kids in a tech-saturated world, and let’s be honest–we are just figuring it out as we go. Sometimes digital parenting can be lonely and frustrating. But you are not alone.

We are all experiencing similar challenges, and we can come together to share and grow and learn together.

The MSM website is just a start, and it will continue to grow as time passes.

But hang on to your hats! Because there’s more to come. We’re hoping to launch a forum soon as well.

Consider this a teaser. We hope you’ll come along for the ride.
