Surviving the darkness

“If I’ve learned anything from life, it’s that sometimes, the darkest times can bring us to the brightest places. I’ve learned that the most toxic people can teach us the most important lessons, that our most painful struggles can grant us the most necessary growth and that the most heartbreaking losses of friendship and love… Read More Surviving the darkness

The Upside of Betrayal

LOVE this woman. Fantastic post. Read my review of Lisa’s article on The Togetherness Project blog, here. Lessons From the End of a Marriage No one needs to tell you that betrayal sucks. It’s a piercing pain formed from grief, anger and confusion. It steals your ability to trust, both in yourself and others. It… Read More The Upside of Betrayal

Manufactured

What is real? Do we even know anymore? In a world where … most of the music we listen to starts with a human voice but is mixed in a studio and edited to perfection, much of the food we eat is genetically modified and then processed, the image of children “playing” usually involves some… Read More Manufactured

Dancing in the rain

Flashback to July 6, 2012 … It rained tonight. In fact, it was a torrential downpour. My friend Emily had scooped me up to take me out for a much-needed girls’ night, and as we drove through sheets of water, the gutters began to overflow and mini-rivers gurgled down the drains around us. Enormous bursts… Read More Dancing in the rain

Togetherness Project: A dip in the sea

Winter at the beach is a different sort of time. Gone are the laughter, screams, and parties of the familiar summer scene. These all vanished after labor day. Now, people don their coats and shoes to venture toward the crystal, quiet shore. Only an occasional canine friend scampers barefoot on the sand or plunges jubilantly… Read More Togetherness Project: A dip in the sea

A spoonful of sugar

It wasn’t a particularly fantastic day. In fact, it was downright hard. Chilly. Rainy. My kiddos are sick, and so am I. Never did get out of my pjs. Found out this week that I’ve been replaced … again. But you know, after spending all day wallowing in self-pity and consuming a ridiculous amount of… Read More A spoonful of sugar

Baby steps

My baby is learning to walk, and so am I. I used to know how, but I’ve been crawling around on my belly with my face in the dust for so long, that I’ve forgotten. So now I am watching, learning, and exploring along with him on this new adventure. It began with an insatiable… Read More Baby steps

We all have our battles and I've had my fair share. But if I can make it through this madness (addiction, divorce, abuse, single parenting, co-parenting, molestation, infertility, autoimmune disease, connective tissue disorders ... you name it, I've been there), then you can too. You are stronger than you think!

Slowly but surely, we can convert these experiences into FUEL for better things ahead. We can teach our kids. We can inspire those around us for good. And we can change the world.
