Hey, ladies! Have you heard about Addo Recovery? I LOVE them! They offer addiction programs, resources, and best of all a FREE online betrayal trauma course for wives of porn addicts.
The premise of the course is that most survivors of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, follow a certain pattern: They are traumatized over a limited amount of time, move on from it, and then have to heal from it. One example would be a veteran who has returned home after a horrific battle.
Believe it or not, spouses of addicts suffer from the same symptoms associated with PTSD. However, their trauma follows a different pattern, because as long as they remain married to the addict, they are continually traumatized. In a way, there is no “post-” in the PTSD because the trauma never ends. Addo refers to this continuous psychological barrage as betrayal trauma, and treating it is their specialty.
A few months ago I had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Addo at The Togetherness Project. They defined betrayal trauma this way: It’s like being attacked by a tiger, but then sleeping in the same bed with that tiger every night.
Although we’re now divorced, I experienced ten years of betrayal trauma during my first marriage. However, divorce is not the right answer for everyone. Addo’s program is a great way to cope for women who choose to stay.
After enormous success with their betrayal trauma course over the past year, Addo is feeling the need to expand. If you are a WoPA (wife of a porn addict), please click here or follow the link below to help them with a quick survey. It’s anonymous and took me about five minutes … maybe less.

If you haven’t already taken advantage of the free betrayal trauma program, I highly recommend it.
Below is a letter from Eric Red, founder of Addo, regarding the survey:
