Positive Parenting in a Digitally Saturated World

Author: Mama Crossroads

I'm a mother, and a FIGHTER. We all have our battles and I've had my fair share. But if I can make it through this madness (divorce, abuse, single parenting, co-parenting, molestation, infertility, autoimmune disease, major surgeries, chronic pain ... you name it, I've been there), then you can too. You are stronger than you think! Slowly but surely, we can convert these experiences into FUEL for better things ahead. We can teach our kids. We can inspire those around us for good. And we can change the world.

3 days running

You might be a mama if … You have been wearing (and sleeping in) your gym clothes for three days straight, but still haven’t made it to the gym. That was me this morning. Have I cleaned the house? Check! Been to the grocery store? Check! Made it to a cub scout meeting? Check! Run… Read More 3 days running

3 Things Your Kids Need to Know about Fifty Shades of Grey

Originally posted on PornProof Kids™:
by Kristen A. Jenson Fifty Shades of Avoidance I have a confession. I have never wanted to read the pornographic, record-breaking, best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey. Never. Even. Been. Curious. So I’m pretty sure that puts me in some kind of weird minority. (And yet, on most days I still manage to…

50 Shades of Cultural Madness

Erotica. In the past, we could recognize it by the voluptuous woman and beastly man on the cover. Now it masquerades as a copycat tween novel. Pornography. We used to go to ‘the back room’ to rent it. Now it is readily available on hand-held devices and the big screen. Years ago, violent sex, graphic… Read More 50 Shades of Cultural Madness

5 Truths You Have to Accept Before Your Second Marriage

Originally posted on Lessons From the End of a Marriage:
Your Baggage is Your Problem It’s always nice when someone offers to carry our bags for us. There’s a relief that comes from shifting that burden; a sense of freedom when the weight is lifted. But when it comes to relationships, your baggage is your…

Mini Meteorologists

We had a snow day today–which, in VA, is a bit of a novelty. My youngest, almost four, was cracking me up talking about it. “Um … I think it was just a flurry, Mom,” my little scoundrel said knowingly as we walked out the door this morning. He was right. It was really only… Read More Mini Meteorologists

A Facebook Marriage (Keep the Smile On Or Else)

Originally posted on Lessons From the End of a Marriage:
I didn’t join Facebook until after my divorce. But if I did have a Facebook page during my first marriage, it would have revealed nothing of the upcoming marital tsunami. You would have seen pictures of us playing with the dogs and working on the…

Patchwork Christmas

Thinking outside the gift box

During our family drive home from music lessons, jingle bells blared noisily over an ad for some big sale on the radio. In the backseat my eight-year-old sighed heavily. “Mom!” he finally burst out. “It’s all so stupid. Everyone is so greedy! I think we should boycott all the Black Friday sales!” I was speechless. Wow.… Read More Thinking outside the gift box
